Giving Back

Together we can make a difference…

We believe in supporting the community in which we live. By donating 1% of our commission from the purchase or sale of your home, we can plant trees that will reduce green house gases; help orphaned animals find loving homes; teach children to read; and put a meal on the table of someone in need. You choose what is most important to you, and let us know so we can direct the funds appropriately. Here are a few organizations we think are great!

CAT (Cat Adoption Team)
CAT’s mission is to work with our community to save the lives of homeless, sick and injured cats and kittens by offering shelter, adoption, foster, hospice, and veterinary services to end needless feline euthanasia in our community.

Family Dogs New Life
Family Dogs New Life is a no kill dog shelter dedicated to rescuing and rehoming needy dogs regardless of age, breed or history. We take in dogs from Animal Control Agencies and Humane Societies located within the state of Oregon as well as Washington. We also work with many smaller Rescue Groups across the country, as well as a small number of owner surrendered dogs.

Free Geek
Free Geek is a nonprofit community organization that reuses and recycles technology to provide computers, education and job-skills training to those in need in exchange for volunteer service. More than 6,000 refurbished computer systems have been donated to volunteers, local schools and other nonprofits. What cannot be reused is recycled responsibly. Free Geek has diverted over 2,000 tons of electronic waste from our landfills, preventing toxins from leaching into our soil and water.

Friends of Trees
Friends of Trees bring people in the Portland-Vancouver area together to plant trees along city streets and in urban natural areas. Since 1989, thousands of volunteers have planted more than 340,000 trees and native plants in the Portland-Vancouver area. According to a recent city of Portland study, Portland’s trees intercept 25 million pounds of air pollutants and keep half a billion gallons of storm water from polluting our rivers every year.

Greyhound Pets of America – Northwest
Greyhound Pets of America provides care and protection for retired racing greyhounds across the country. They foster, house, feed and attend to medical needs of the unwanted dogs until they can place them in permanent homes. GPA is completely non-profit, with all funds being applied directly to the care of greyhounds.

Growing Gardens
Growing Gardens gets at the root of hunger in Portland, Oregon. They organize hundreds of volunteers to build organic, raised bed vegetable gardens in backyards, front yards, side yards and even on balconies. They support low income households for three years with seeds, plants, classes, mentors and more. Their Youth Grow after school garden clubs grow the next generation of veggie eaters and growers! Through Learn & Grow workshops and work parties, they teach gardeners all about growing, preparing and preserving healthful food while respecting the health of the environment.

Habitat for Humanity
Partnering with the community, their volunteers build simple, decent homes, which are then sold at cost with a zero-interest, 1% down payment mortgage to families who qualify for their program. The mortgage payments – payments that are often lower than what they were paying in rent – go into a revolving “Fund for Humanity” that is used to build more homes in the Portland area.

Hands on Portland
Everyone can do something for the community. Hands On Portland develops this potential in volunteers. They connect them with opportunities to feed the hungry, teach our children, house the homeless, restore our environment and meet other important community needs.

IRCO (Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization)
The mission of the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) is to assist refugees, immigrants, and multi-ethnic communities to develop self-sufficiency and cultural awareness while affirming and preserving each culture within an ever-changing environment.

Living Yoga
Living Yoga is a non-profit outreach program teaching yoga as a tool for personal change to populations who would otherwise not have access to it. Yoga is invaluable for rehabilitation and recovery; it develops the skills of mindfulness, impulse control, discernment in decision-making and emotional regulation, as well as interpersonal relationship skills. We extend our service to prisons, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, battered womenís shelters, low-income and homeless resource services, and disadvantaged youth.

Loaves & Fishes
Loaves & Fishes Centers is an organization that provides hot, nutritious meals to seniors 60 years and older. Hot noon meals are delivered by volunteers each weekday to homebound seniors. Loaves & Fishes Centers also serves a noon lunch to more active seniors at 35 meal centers throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties.

Multnomah County Animal Shelter
Animal Shelters provide care and protection for thousands of homeless, unwanted, abandoned and abused or neglected dogs and cats. This community program is terribly underfunded and much needed!

Oregon Spay and Neuter Fund
There are millions of pet lovers in the United States, yet sadly shelters across the country are forced to euthanize millions of dogs and cats each year because of pet overpopulation. Of the estimated ten million animals brought to shelters each year, approximately half will not find new homes and families. The Oregon Spay and Neuter Fund fights pet overpopulation by providing financial assistance to those that canít afford to have their animals spayed or neutered.

P:ear
P:ear builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth, ages 15 to 23, through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives. Each year their programs serve more than 350 homeless and transitional young people.

Q Center
The mission of Q Center is to increase the visibility of and foster connection within metropolitan Portland’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) community. The center builds public awareness and support, and celebrates LGBTQ diversity through art, culture, and programming.

Rock & Roll Camp for Girls
The Rock & Roll Camp for Girls builds girls self-esteem through music creation and performance. Providing workshops and technical training, they create leadership opportunities, cultivate a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourage social change and the development of life skills.

SMART (Start Making a Reader Today)
SMART engages community volunteers to read one-on-one with K-3 children who need literacy support. Participating children also receive new books each month to keep and read with their families.

The Dougy Center
The Dougy Center provides a safe place for children, teens, young adults and their families who are grieving a death to share their experiences. We do this through peer support groups, education, and training.

The Pixie Project
The Pixie Project is an animal adoption center and non-profit pet supply store. 100% of profits generated by the sale of their healthy pet products are dedicated to animal rescue, adoption and low-income spay and neuter services.
